Patents
Patent translations demand a special combination of skills. First, of course, the translator must have a thorough knowledge of the technical field of the invention – which could include any product a human might imagine, from cosmetic dispensers to data transmission devices to diesel fuel emulsifiers. A patent translation also needs to adhere to the proper idiom – sometimes affectionately known as patentese – including genre-specific terms of art and characteristic organizational structure.
While our primary focus is on translating foreign specifications into English for USPTO filing, we also offer the translation of prior-art references as well as English-language specifications for foreign filing.
